As the weather turns cooler, our thoughts are on wild mushrooms, theatre, and anniversary fun. See photos from autumns 2009 (Stephen Fry), 2010 (Devon and Dad), 2011 (Glasgow and Robert Thompson), 2013 (David Tennant and The Drowned Man), 2014 (Belgium and Streetcar). |

Netley Abbey is only a few miles from our house, yet we'd never been. |
We love visiting Studland and last did so in 2009. |
It was a gloriously sunny and warm day, so we had to recreate this obligatory photo. |
We weren't sure we'd be brave enough to swim, but the water was warm enough and we were glad we took the plunge. |
There are amazing houses and energetic dogs to be seen. |
Our town had a heritage day and we went on a cemetery tour, where we saw a rail engine gravestone and lots of abandoned underwear. We ate German wurst for lunch. |
The Red Arrows flew over our neighbourhood and we visited some new places in Winchester. |
We ate corn smut, or huitlacoche for the first time and collected mushrooms and visited the nearby surfer beach. |
September beach goers |
We visited a silk mill that was holding a village fete or sorts. |

When tickets to see Benedict Cumberbatch in Hamlet went on sale, we logged onto four different computers and were successful. Months later, we saw the show and got his autograph. |
An anniversary treat to the Isle of Wight. |
Above: Leftover bacon was transformed into maple, bacon, and smoked paprka popcorn. It was Halloween the day we went to the island. |
Our main reason for visiting the island was to eat at Robert Thompson's new restaurant. It was the best meal I have ever had. Click HERE to see his pasta demonstration, HERE for Nick's birthday meal 2011, and HERE for George's birthday in 2009. |
